Deposit & Cancellation Policy

Windermere is a seasonal business and therefore it is essential that your
reservation be honored. Of course, circumstances beyond a person’s
control may require a change in scheduled travel plans and we understand this.
However, once the season begins it can be difficult to fill a vacancy.
Most travelers arriving on the island are pre-booked for lodging, with the
result that there is a small percentage of transients seeking accommodation.
Once a reservation is made and secured with a deposit, it is a guaranteed
reservation. The cottage booked is automatically held for you. This deposit is
credited toward the cost of your stay, at the time of settlement on your arrival
at Windermere. Out of this
deposit, we are reserving $100 towards a damage deposit, which will be refunded
upon inspection of the cottage at the end of you stay.
In the event of a cancellation the following apply:
- Notification prior to May 1st ------full refund.
- Notification after May 1st ---------refund only when the dates for your
reservation are subsequently re-booked and paid for.
- Notification 7 days before your arrival date------forfeit of the full
amount of your deposit.
- All cancellations are subject to an administration fee of $50.00,
deducted from the deposit.
- If you will be arriving after 6:00 pm on the first day of your
reservation, may we suggest a courtesy call on our toll-free line, to inform
us of that fact. (1-800-688-2234)
**** We suggest that buying
"trip cancellation insurance" might be worth considering.
